Brent
and Randy Mason, "Smokin' Section"
Brent
Mason's (http://www.BrentMason.com)
first album Hot Wired marked the solo debut by one of Nashville's
hottest studio guitarists. Like many such efforts by established hired
pickers known for their versatility, Hot Wired successfully
showed several of Mason's amazing gift for pouring himself into each
song to create a great backing.
Often
called one of the most recorded guitarists in history, Brent Mason
regularly demonstrates his virtuosity on sessions with a number of
country and pop stars, including George Strait, Brooks and Dunn, Alan
Jackson, Wade Hayes, Toby Keith, Randy Travis, Neil Diamond…and a
huge percentage of all the songs on top 40 country music stations
today, top 40 pop stations, as well as many TV commercials.
Most
recently, he has released a new solo cd with his equally talented
brother, Randy Mason (http://www.randymasonmusic.com).
The newest album is called "Smokin' Section" and
was recorded using only 12 tracks...a true feat for anyone except
these two brothers!
As
Randy says, "No pro-tools or tricks, just straight from my
shed, like when we were kids growing up in Grover Hill, Ohio."
Though
you wouldn’t be able to tell that this is a home recording…the tones
on this album are amazing…big, full, fat, full of life, and
NOT compressed like you hear on the radio so often!
You
can tell this is where their passion is too – Brent said this about
the experience:
“My brother Randy and I have been jamming together since we were
kids, so this is a special project that’s been long overdue. We
had a blast writing and playing this style of music that is dear to
our hearts. We captured the essence by keeping it simple and spontaneous.”
Randy,
the other half of this amazing duo elaborated on it a bit. “Last
fall Brent said “Hey we should do an album together. Maybe we can
do it ourselves on this digital recorder I bought.” I said, “Yea!
What’ll we do on it?” Brent said, “We’ll write some stuff.”
I’ve
always wanted to do an album with Brent. He is to me the very best
brother, and musician in the world. Just listen for yourself!”
